Teaching
Over the past 15 years as a choral conductor and voice teacher, I’ve devoted myself to creating a learning space where students feel seen, heard, and inspired. I believe every singer has unique potential—it’s my job to help them discover it, nurture it, and let it shine.
Where Every Voice Matters: Music, Growth, and Inclusion
Developing solid vocal technique and nurturing healthy singing habits lie at the core of my teaching philosophy. I believe that music is more than an art form—it’s a path for personal growth, emotional expression, and social connection. That’s why I embrace a wide range of musical styles and repertoire, making lessons both technically strong and creatively fulfilling.
But vocal technique is only part of the journey. I’m equally passionate about fostering a sense of community, inclusion, and belonging. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just values—they are essential to how I teach. I strive to create a space where every student feels safe, respected, and empowered to grow.
Whether guiding a beginner or a seasoned singer, my goal is always the same: to help each student discover their voice—both musically and personally.
As an Asian musician, I’m deeply committed to fostering collaboration and innovation within the music community. My teaching incorporates culturally responsive practices, ensuring that the repertoire we perform reflects and respects the diverse backgrounds of my singers.
I actively seek opportunities to collaborate with fellow musicians—inviting guest artists to our choral concerts and commissioning works that feature traditional and modern instruments. These efforts help amplify underrepresented voices and provide a platform for Chinese musicians in our community to shine.
I’m also deeply committed to promoting and preserving cultural heritage, especially through my work with the Salt Lake Chinese Choir. I’m passionate about honoring cultural roots and passing traditions on to the next generation through music.
One way I do this is by using immersive Chinese-language methods in children's choir settings, teaching not only choral skills but also Chinese cultural knowledge. Through song, language, and shared experience, I strive to help young singers connect with both their voices and their heritage.

As an educator and conductor, my goal is to cultivate a deep appreciation for choral music, deliver high-quality music education, and empower students to use their musical talents for personal growth and meaningful impact on the world around them.
I am committed to lifelong learning and artistic development, and I look forward to contributing to the vibrant communities of musicians and educators—wherever my journey may lead.
